abstract R 1 fürn odern steht, worin R 2 und R 3 gleich oder verschieden sein können und jeweils eine lineare oder verzweigte Alkylgruppe mit 1 bis 6 C-Atomen bedeuten oder aber R 2 und R 3 zusammen für eine Ethylgruppe oder eine Propylengruppe stehen, die durch Methylgruppen oder Ethylgruppen substituiert sein können, Verfahren zu deren Herstellung und deren Verwendung zur Herstellung von Safranal und 3-Hydroxy-ß-cyclocitral sowie optisch aktive α-Cyclocitralderivate der allgemeinen Formeln A und Bn in denen R 1 fürn steht, wenn X für Wasserstoff und Y für eine OH-Gruppe steht oder aber R' fürn steht, worin R 2 und R 3 die oben angegebene Bedeutung haben und X und Y zusammen für Sauerstoff stehen oder X für Wasserstoff steht, wenn Y eine OH-Gruppe bedeutet, und ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von optisch aktiven 3-Oxo-α cyclocitralacetalen, das dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, daß man Gemische der entsprechenden racemischen 3-Oxo-α cyclocitralacetate durch Chromatographie an geeigneten chiralen Adsorbentien in die optisch aktiven Verbindungen trennt.
