abstract | α-Iminodiacetonitrile of the formula wherein the individual radicals R 1 and R 2 may be the same or different and each represent a hydrogen atom, an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic radical, where, when R 1 and R 2 are the same, R 1 and R 2 are each an araliphatic , cycloaliphatic or aromatic radical or an ethyl, methoxymethyl, ethoxymethyl or 3-heptyl group, or when R 1 and R 2 are identical and denote an aralkyl radical, R 1 and R 2 each denote an aralkyl radical with more than 7 carbon atoms, and processes for their preparation by reacting aldehyde cyanohydrins or haloacetonitriles with aminonitriles, in the preparation of symmetrical α-iminodiacetonitriles in the presence of lower alkanols, in the preparation with haloacetonitriles in the presence of an auxiliary base. According to the procedure of! Α-Iminodiacetonitriles obtainable according to the invention are valuable starting materials for the production of dyes, fungicides, bactericides, herbicides, textile auxiliaries, corrosion inhibitors, complexing agents, stabilizers in electroplating baths and inhibitors of antifreeze agents. |
