abstract a) 10 bis 60 Gew.-% mindestens eines monoethylenisch ungesättigten Dicarbonsäureanhydrids mit 4 bis 6 C-Atomen, b) 90 bis 40 Gew.-% mindestens einer monoethylenisch ungesättigten Monocarbonsäure mit 3 bis 10 C-Atomen, und c) 0 bis 20 Gew.-% einer sonstigen carboxylgruppenfreien, mit a) und b) copolymerisierbaren, monoethylenisch ungesättigten Monomeren, wobei die Copolymerisation bei 50 bis 180°C als Suspensionspolymerisation in einem Lösungsmittel, in dem die Monomeren ganz oder zum Teil und die Copolymerisate unlöslich sind, durchgeführt wird, wobei mindestens ein Drittel des einzusetzenden Dicarbonsäureanhydrids im Reaktor vorgelegt und der Rest in höchstens zwei Dritteln der Zulaufzeit der Monocarbonsäuren zudosiert werden. Die genannten Copolymeren können als Inkrustierungsinhibitoren oder für die scaling inhibition verwendet werden.
