abstract | 6-H-Dibenz[b,e][1,4]oxathiepin derivatives of the formulae I and IA are novel. They can be used in the treatment and control of allergic conditions such as allergic asthma.n n They are made by reducing the corresponding compound in which the (CH 2 ) n OR 4 residue is replaced by a (CH 2 ) n-1 COOH residue. n In the formula n is 1, 2, 3 or 4, Z is thia, sulfinyl or sulfonyl; each of R 1 , R 2 and R 3 is H, halogen, NH 2 , alkyl, alkylthio, alkylsulfinyl, alkylsulfonyl, CF 3 , CF 3 S, CN, N0 2 , alkylamino, dialkylamino, alkoxy, alkanoyl, aralkyl, or hydroxyalkyl, or R 1 and R 2 together represent polymethylene, possibly oxo or hydroxy substituted; and R 4 is H, acyl, alkylaminoacyl, alkylcarboxy, alkylcarbamoyl, alkylcarba- moylacyl or acyloxyalkyl. |
