abstract | 57 A system for identifying cells by electrophoresis is described. n It comprises:n (a) performing an electrophoretic separation on a sample from each of a first; a. second and a third population of cells, the first population being of the cells to be identified and the second and third populations being of cells whose identities are known, each of the samples containing at least some electrophoretically-separable substances which are characteristic of known cells; (b) developing the electrophoretic separations; (c) comparing the developed separations for the second and third samples to determine the range of separation for the chosen substances nandn (d) based on the range of separation so determined, comparing the separations for the first and second samples to determine the identity of the cells of the first population. |
