abstract A process for the preparation of 2-[2-((5-dimethylaminomethyl)furan-2-ylmethylthio)ethylamino]-5-(6-met hylpyrid-S HY# 3-ylmethyl)pyrimid-4-one which comprises the reaction of 2-[2-(furan-2-ylmethylthio)ethylamino]-5-(6-methylpyrid-3-ylmethyl)pyr imid-4-one dihydrochloride with an organic solution of bis(dimethylamino)methane at a pH of about 1.3 to about 2.0. The product is a useful H2-antagonist.
