Aqueous dispersions comprising colloidal sized particles of a polymer and an additive and a method for their preparation |
abstract |
The present invention relates to a stable a aqueous polymer dispersion comprising colloidal size polymer particles and an additive, preferably an antioxidant, and to a method for preparing such stable dispersion without the need for a mechanical dispersion operation. To this end, an emulsion polymerizable monomer is polymerized in an aqueous polymerization medium, a water-insoluble additive being present during at least part of said polymerization, which additive has been dispersed in an aqueous liquid that forms all or part of the polymerization medium as an inherently dispersible solution of the additive and a surfactant. |
