abstract |
An aromatic compound is reacted in aqueous solution to form a corresponding iodoaromatic compound. The reaction mixture is then reacted with a hydroxylating agent without separating the iodoaromatic compound to form the corresponding hydroxyaromatic compound. The iodine acid obtained as a by-product in the reaction is separated off and returned to the process. |
