titleOfInvention | Purification of tetrahydrodibenzo(b,d)pyrans from crude synthetic mixtures |
abstract | (-) - 6a, 10a-Trans-1-hydroxy-3-n-pentyl-6,6,9-trimethyl-6a, 7,8,10a-tetrahydrodibenzo ADb, d BDpyrrane or any of its relative pyranes in which the n-pentyl group is replaced by a hydrogen or a C1-C10 alkyl is isolated from a crude synthetic mixture by a process consisting in esterifying the mixture to form esters of perfluorinated alkanoic acid, in separating the components to low boiling point and non-volatile, to pass the mixture through a first gas chromatography column with a packing whose liquid phase consists of a silicone oil substituted by a slightly polar phenyl, to be extracted a fraction rich in the desired component, passing the extracted fraction through a second gas chromatography column with a packing whose liquid phase consists of a silicone oil not substituted by a phenyl and extracting a fraction rich in the desired component, to hydrolyze the extr fraction aite from the second stage and extract the desired product from the hydrolysis mixture. |
