| abstract |
Hematological control and calibration standards essentially free of plasma. These controls are prepared by suspending red blood cells in an appropriate buffer medium containing an amount of disaccharides sufficient to cause stabilization, and other optional ingredients. Control and calibration standards thus prepared are suitable for the control and calibration of hematological analyzers to verify the following parameters: enumeration of white blood cells, enumeration of red blood cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit and their common derived parameters (i.e. - say average cell volume, average cell hemoglobin and average cell hemoglobin concentration). It is also contemplated to add platelets to the suspensions mentioned above in order to obtain a means of controlling the parameters of the platelets. |
