abstract Stabilized oligonucleotide, intended for the control of biological functions in an organism, preferably in the form of a phosphotriester, having a basic sequence substantially complementary to part of the coding of ribonucleic acid messaged for a biological component, such as a protein , of the organism. The oligonucleotide has about 14 bases or more, for example 23 bases, and can be a deoxyribonucleotide. The oligonucleotide sequence can be derived from ribonucleic or deoxyribonucleic acid providing the code for vital proteins, and can be synthesized in large quantities either chemically or by insertion into a plasmid.
