Compositions containing the following three main components: a metal, an organic compound containing nitrogen chosen from the group of amines and their salts and quaternary ammonium compounds containing at least one hydrophobic organic group, and ammonia, a ammonium salt or a short chain amine, exhibiting satisfactory fungicidal properties with respect to wood destroying fungi. These compositions are found to be particularly effective in protecting wood against rotting. The metal contained in the composition is a so-called preservation metal, appropriately copper, tin or zinc, but preferably copper. |
