abstract Improved process for the production of 2-[4-(2-thiazolyloxy)phenyl]propionic acid which comprises methy- lating the isopropyl, sec-butyl, tert-butyl or benzhydryl ester of 2-(4-(2-thiazolyloxy)phenyl]acetic acid with methyl bor- mide in dimethylformamide at -5 to 5°C in the presence of powdered potassium hydroxide and hydrolyzing the ester group with sodium hydroxide at 0 - 70°C in an aqueous alcohol solution.
