Process for the manufacture of ε-caprolactone by oxidation of cyclohexanone by means of a crude solution of C 2 -C 4 percarboxylic acid, resulting from the reaction of hydrogen peroxide with the corresponding carboxylic acid in the presence of boric acid as catalyst, with continuous elimination of water by azetropic entrainment, characterized in that the molar ratio of the cyclohexanone used to the percarboxylic acid is between 0.50 and 0.99. |
