AMINORESORCINOL derivatives of the general formula:n [wherein R' represents an alkyl group containing from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or a group of the general formula:n (in which R 5 represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a carboxy group, an amino group, a carbamoyl group, a sulfamoyl group or a cyano group and n represents zero or an integer of 1 or 2), one of R 2 and R 3 represents a hydrogen atom and the other represents a hydroxy group or an alkoxy group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms or R 2 and R 3 together represent an oxo group, and R 4 represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group containing from 1 to 6 carbon atoms or a phenylthio group, and the amino group and the group R 4 in the general formula (I) can be attached to the position 2 and 4, or 4 and 2 of the resorcinol ring, respectively], and pharmaceutically-acceptable acid addition salts thereof, possess a strong inhibitory effect on 5-lipoxygenase specifically, or 5-lipoxygenase and cyclooxygenase at the same time, and therefore, are useful as treating and preventing agents for diseases which induced by leukotrienes, e.g. allergic tracheal and bronchial diseases or allergic lung diseases, allergic shocks or various allergic inflammations, and various inflammations induced by prostaglandins. |
