The invention relates to a catalyst for the combustion of pollutants contained in exhaust gases of alcohol-operated internal combustion engines. The catalyst consists of a metal support, a coating of active alumina deposited thereon and a certain amount of palladium deposited on this coating. Other subjects are a manufacturing process for the catalyst, which provides for a final activation in an oxidizing atmosphere or a formation in the stream of the exhaust gas to be cleaned at certain temperatures, and the use of the catalyst for the simultaneous removal of aldehydes, alcohols, carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons present in the exhaust gas. |
