abstract Rubber crumb is subjected to direct reclaiming by being mixed with a plasticizer and optionally also a peptizer and, under agitation and supply of a gas atmosphere with controlled oxygen content and at a temperature of 130 DEG -200 DEG C., heated at substantially atmospheric pressure to cause the rubber particles to react with oxygen and absorb </=10, preferably 0.5-5 liters of O2/kg of rubber particles.
