Chromium complex dyes of the formula wherein X is hydrogen or nitro, Y is hydrogen, nitro or chlorine and Z is hydrogen, nitro, chlorine, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylsulfonyl, arylsulfonyl or SO 2 NW 1 W 2 and W and W 2 are hydrogen, aryl or alkyl, with the proviso that Y and Z, which are not simultaneously nitro, are ideal for dyeing polyamides and wool, on which they give uniform dyeings with good general fastness properties.
