An anti-slip mat (10) has a bottom surface (12) allowing the mat to lie flat on a flat surface and a uniformly wavy opposing top surface (13) characterized by raised portions (14) and depressed portions (15 ) and coated with an anti-slip abrasive layer (16). A preferred method of forming such a mat includes the steps of forming a base resin layer (32) on a release liner (30), coating a surface of the base resin layer with a liquid polymerizable polyurethane adhesive resin (39), for distributing abrasive grains (41) on the polyurethane resin layer while it is still liquid, for at least partial polymerization of the polyurethane resin, for coating the surface obtained coated with grains with polymerizable liquid polyurethane resin, polymerization of the coating obtained, extraction of the release jacket (30), formation of a repellable sheet (53) of a polymer composition, contacting of a surface of the polymer sheet with the surface of the base resin layer (48) opposite the abrasive surface to produce a laminated structure and repelling the laminated structure to obtain the mat (10). |
