abstract | There are described compounds of formula I,n in which D, represents a group of formula II,n where R, and R 5 , or H 3 and R 5 may form a chain -CH 2 CH 2 -, or R 4 and R 5 may form a chain -CH 2 -, or R 3 , R 4 and R 5 are each hydrogen, the remainder of R,, R 3 and R 4 , which may be the same or different, being hydrogen, alkyl or phenyl, n none, one or two of R 6 , R 7 , R 8 and R, represent hydroxy and the remainder represent hydrogen,n X represents a chain -(CH 2 ) n -, optionally substituted by hydroxy, n is an integer from 1 to 7 inclusive, D 2 represents hydrogen, alkyl, phenyl; alkyl substituted by one or more of hydroxy, pyridyl, phenyl; or alkyl substituted by phenyl which in turn is substituted by halogen, alkyl, amino, alkoxy or nitro, or D 2 represents a group of formula III,n where R 2 and R 12 , or R, o and R 12 may form a chain -CH 2- CH 2- , or R 11 and R 12 may form a chain -CH 2 -, or R 10 , R,, and R 12 are each hydrogen, the remainder of R 2 , R 10 and R 11 , which may be the same or different being hydrogen, alkyl or phenyl, none, one or two of R 13 , R 14 , R 15 and R 16 represent hydroxy, and the remainder represent hydrogen, or R 2 and D 2 , together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, form a 5 or 6 membered heterocyclic ring, provided that when X is not substituted by hydroxy andn i) when R 3 , R 4 and R 5 are hydrogen, R, and R 2 are both hydrogen or lower alkyl, and two of R 6 , R 7 , R 8 and R 9 are hydroxy, D 2 is not identical to D 1 , or ii) when R,, R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , R 6 , R 7 , R 8 and R 9 are hydrogen, R 2 and D 2 do not each represent lower alkyl, or do not together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, form a 5 or 6 membered heterocyclic ring, or iii) when R,, R 4 , R 5 , R 6 , R 7 , R 8 and R 9 are hydrogen, and R 3 is alkyl, D 2 is not identical to D 1 , or iv) when R, is phenyl, R 3 and R 5 together form the chain -CH 2 CH 2 -, R 6 , R 7 , R 8 and R 9 are hydrogen, n is 1, D 2 and R 2 do not each represent hydrogen or alkyl, or do not together form a heterocyclic ring, nand pharmaceutically acceptable derivatives thereof. n There are also described methods for making the compounds and pharmaceutical, e.g. cardiac, compositions containing the compounds. |
