titleOfInvention Construction of microorganisms
abstract This invention provides novel strains of microorganisms n(e.g., Pseudomonas putida Biotype A) which are capable of nconverting toluene to muconic acid quantitatively by the northo(β-ketoadipate) pathway. n Muconate lactonising enzyme is not induced in the nmicroorganism, thereby permitting the muconic acid to be nproduced and accumulated in a quantity greater than one ngram of muconic acid per litre of growth medium.
