The tarpaulin, foil or tape-shaped carrier materials for offset printing plates are based on chemically, mechanically and or electrochemically roughened aluminum or one of its alloys, the aluminum also being able to have an aluminum oxide layer produced by anodic oxidation. On one of the two surfaces, the carrier material carries a hydrophilic coating of at least one salt-like hydrophilic organic polymer, which is a complex reaction product of a) a water-soluble organic polymer with acidic, phosphorus or sulfur-containing functional groups (e.g. polyvinylphosphonic or polyvinylsulfonic acid) and b) is a set of at least two metal cations.n n n In a process for the production of this support material, the complex-like reaction product is dissolved in aqueous acids and applied to at least one surface of the support material and the support material modified in this way is dried: however, the complex-like reaction product can also be produced from components a) and b) only on the support material. The carrier material is used in the production of offset printing plates having a light-sensitive layer. |
