abstract The present invention relates to compounds of general formula:n wherein R 1 and R 2 = H or a lower alkyl, and a process for their preparation, characterized in that it comprises a condensation of a substrate selected from: gamma-amino butyric acid (II) or (GABA), its lactam pyrrolidine-2-one (II)', or its esters, with a reagent selected from: acrylonitrile, acrylic acid, or its esters. n The invention also relates to pharmaceutical compositions containing said compounds and adapted to provide a GABA-like activity in the brain.
