abstract R 1 , R 2 und R 3 für gleiche oder verschiedene Alkylreste stehen oder zusammen mit dem tertiären C-Atom, an das sie gebunden sind, eine Polycycloalkylgruppe bilden, oder R' und R 2 zusammen mit dem tertiären C-Atom, an das sie gebunden sind, eine Cycloalkyl- oder Bicycloalkylgruppe bilden, nerhält man in guten Ausbeuten, idem man tertiäre Alkylhalogenide der allgemeinen Formeln worinn X für Chlor, Brom oder Jod steht und R', R 2 und R' die oben angegebene Bedeutung haben, mit Trimethylsilylcyanid, (CH,),SiCN (III), in Gegenwart einer Lewis-Säure aus der Gruppe SnCl 4 , TiCl 4 und BiCl 3 und gegebenenfalls in Anwesenheit eines Verdünnungsmittels bei Temperaturen zwischen 10 und 40°C umsetzt. Tertiary alkyl cyanides of the general formula wherein R 1 , R 2 and R 3 represent identical or different alkyl radicals or together with the tertiary carbon atom to which they are attached form a polycycloalkyl group, or R 'and R 2 together with the tertiary carbon atom to which they are attached form a cycloalkyl or bicycloalkyl group, is obtained in good yields by using tertiary alkyl halides of the general formula wherein X represents chlorine, bromine or iodine and R ', R 2 and R' have the meaning given above, with trimethylsilyl cyanide, (CH,), SiCN (III), in the presence of a Lewis acid from the group SnCl 4 , TiCl 4 and BiCl 3 and optionally in the presence of a diluent implemented at temperatures between 10 and 40 ° C. n n n The tertiary alkyl cyanides (I) can be used as intermediates, e.g. for the production of known herbicides.
