The present invention relates to a catalyst and a process for the treatment of industrial waste gases containing sulfur compounds.n n n The catalysts according to the present invention are characterized in that they comprise titanium oxide and a sulfate of an alkaline earth metal.n n n The catalysts according to the invention are in particular usable for the treatment of industrial waste gases according to the Claus process for the recovery of sulfur from gases containing in particular hydrogen sulphide, sulfur dioxide and optionally organic sulfur derivatives such as carbonyl sulfide, carbon sulfide and mercaptans. |
