abstract Apparatus for modifying the concentration of a preselected component (11) of a feed material (12) where the feed material (12) flows through flow paths linked by overlapping barriers (13) through which the component (11) selectively passes. The flow of feed material (12) resiliently separates the barriers (13) to maintain a laminar flow therebetween. The preselected component (11) can be routed to selectively flow through barriers (13) either into or out of the feed material (12).
