abstract A process for setting a wool yarn comprising treating the yarn at a temperature within the range from 85° to 108°C and at a pH from 4 to 8, with an aqueous solution containing from 0.5 to 5.0 % by weight, based on the weight of yarn, of an N-methylolurea having the formulan wherein R is hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or -CH 2 OY 1 ; X, and X 2 are each hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or-CH 2 OY 2 , or X 1 and X 2 together represent ethylene, propylene, 1,2-dihydroxyethylene, 2-hydroxypropylene, 1-methoxy-2-dimethylpropylene,n n Y, Y 1 and Y 2 are each hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, Z is hydrogen, alkyl or hydroxyalkyl each having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R' and R" each have the significance given for R.
