abstract 3,4-dichlorobenzoyl chloride, 3,4,5-trichlorobenzoyl chloride, 2,3,4,5-tetrachlorobenzoyl chloride or pentachlorobenzoyl chloride are obtained in high selectivity and high yield if 4-chlorobenzoyl chloride is used with a chlorinating agent in the presence of a catalyst to the respective degree of chlorination implements. The polychlorobenzoyl chlorides mentioned are starting materials for the production of dyes and pesticides.
