Process for the preparation of acicular gamma iron(III) oxide having a high coercive force |
abstract |
The invention relates to a method for producing highly coercive needle-shaped gamma-iron (III) oxide by reducing needle-shaped iron (III) oxide hydroxide during continuous passage through an oven with at least two heating zones at temperatures between 190 and 700 ° C by means of a gas mixture which at Passing through an inert gas stream heated to more than 250 ° C through the organic substance which is heated in a closed container to temperatures of also more than 250 ° C and then, when introduced into the furnace, first with that in the first heating zone of the furnace at a temperature between 190 and 250 ° C from the iron (III) oxide hydroxide by elimination of water resulting α-iron (III) oxide is brought into contact with the magnetite and subsequent oxidation of the magnetite with oxygen-containing gases at 150 to 400 ° C to the gamma-iron (III) oxide . |
