Crud is separated from the ion exchange resin used in a demineralizer in the cooling system of an atomic reactor, by applying supersonic energy to a slurry of the resin. Separation is improved by adding, prior to the application of sonic energy, a dispersing agent which promotes colloid formation, e.g. 0.5% by weight of sodium hexamethaphosphate or 0.1 N sulphuric acid. |
