titleOfInvention | Preparation of alpha-chlorinated nitrogen heterocycles |
abstract | Nitrogen heterocycles which contain at least one chlorine atom in the a-position to the ring nitrogen are obtained by reacting nitrogen heterocycles which contain at least one hydroxyl group in the a-position to the ring nitrogen with thionyl chloride in the presence of substituted formamides. The formamides used are N, N'-di-substituted, where both substituents independently of one another denote alkyl, aralkyl or aryl, where, in the event that both substituents denote alkyl, at least one of the two substituents contains at least 5 carbon atoms, furthermore in the alkyl substituents one or more CH 2 groups can be replaced by oxygen or alkyl or formyl-substituted nitrogen. The process is carried out in the presence of 0.001 to 1 mole of substituted formamide per mole of hydroxyl group to be reacted and at a temperature of 50 to 200 ° C. |
