titleOfInvention | Process and apparatus for continuous production of ethanol |
abstract | Method and apparatus having a good energy yield for the continuous production of ethanol comprising a continuous fermentation of sugar, or of another material (34) capable of fermenting which can be transformed into ethanol by the enzymatic action of a yeast and by simultaneous distillation at low pressure used to extract the ethanol and carbonic acid formed during fermentation. The evaporator or boiler (31) can be placed directly on the fermentation tank or be located outside of it. The pressure in the system is adjusted so as to produce the boiling of ethanol at the fermentation temperature. The ethanol vapors, with part of the carbonic acid produced are compressed, pass through a heat exchanger (33) in the evaporator (31) where the ethanol condenses and gives up its heat used to make evaporate the ethanol contained in the fermentation liquid. The pressures and the flow rates are adjusted so that the rates of evaporation and condensation are substantially identical. |
