New 1-benzotriazolyloxyacetic acid amides of the general formula I wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 , which can be the same or different, for hydrogen, cyano, nitro, halogen, amino or optionally halogen-substituted (di) alkylamino, carbamoyl, monoalkylamino or dialkylamino-carbonyl, aminosulfonyl, monoalkylamino or dialkylaminosulfonyl, for alkyl optionally substituted by halogen, cyano, alkoxy or alkylthio, or for optionally halogen-substituted alkoxy, alkylthio or alkylsulfonyl, or in which two adjacent radicals R 'and R 2 , R 2 and R 3 or R 3 and R 4 together represent alkylene or benzo, n stands for zero or 1 and R "and R 6 , which may be the same or different, individually represent optionally substituted radicals from the series alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalk (en) yl, aralkyl or aryl or - in the event that n is zero - together form with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached an optionally substituted, optionally partially unsaturated and optionally benzannelated mono- or bicyclic compound, which optionally contains further heteroatoms, and a process for their preparation, starting from corresponding 1-hydroxy-benzotriazoles and halogen acetic acid amides. n n n The new compounds of formula (I) can be used in particular as herbicides.
