titleOfInvention | ENTRANCE HEAD OF A CHEMICAL AGENT MEASUREMENT OR IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM. |
abstract | The head of a system for measuring or identifying chemical agents for the detection of these agents comprises a heated membrane which is exposed directly to the agents which dissolve selectively in the membrane, diffuse through it and come out of it, at the back, in the state of vapor. The membrane can be successively rinsed with a gas or conformed as a contact membrane as the first stage of a membrane separator serving as a direct intake system, in the high vacuum of a mass spectrometer. The head offers a system for detecting or admitting samples using which organic compounds capable of diffusing, for example also chemical combat agents, on surfaces or in surface layers can be qualitatively and quantitatively detected, that is to say detected and identified in a rapid and fairly sensitive way in mobile intervention or in laboratory. The head has a membrane (2) arranged to be as thin as possible while being sufficiently stable mechanically, so that it can be brought directly into contact with contaminated solid surfaces. |
