abstract | In solid samples of food, animal feed and raw materials therefor, the content of fat and protein and possibly other constituents such as carbohydrates is determined by converting a sample of the product in dispersed form by treatment with a basic aqueous solution combined with a mechanical subdivision to obtain a dispersion in which the constituents are determined by photometry by quantitative IR transmission. This measurement is correlated with a measurement by a standard process. In this way, great accuracy and good reproducibility of the quantitative determination of multiple components is obtained in solid samples. |
