abstract Contraceptive type non-penetrating contraceptive device in the form of a valve diaphragm, custom shape (10). The cervical diaphragm (10) comprises a dome-shaped elastomeric envelope (22) substantially complementary with the surface of a part of the vaginalis cervicis when it is in contact with it and having an opening (27) at the top of the 'envelope. The diaphragm may also have a dependent skirt (30) which is thinner than the casing and has spaced slots (32) on its periphery. The opening (27) is covered with an elastomer layer (29) fixed on the casing (22) and defines with the casing (22) one-way valve means having a discharge orifice (43) offset by report at the opening. The cervical diaphragm (10) can be made from a specially designed blank of elastomeric thermoplastic material using a reproduction of the cervix as a mold.
