Dispersions of solid organic compounds |
abstract |
Aqueous dispersions of solid, monomer-soluble, free-radical forming compounds, e.g. organic peroxides contain an amphoteric derivative of a 2-alkyl substituted or 2-alkenyl substituted 2-imidazoline as emulsifier. The dispersions preferably also contain a protective colloid such as polyvinyl alcohol. Suitable emulsifiers are mono- or dicarboxylates and mono-sulphonates. The dispersions are easy to handle and stable, and they can be used in the polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated monomers such as vinyl chloride. |
