abstract | Compositions stable in the absence of oxygen obtained by mixing the following compounds in the absence of oxygen: (A) 100 parts by weight of at least one organic compound with mercapto function containing at least two mercapto groups per molecule; (B) from 0 to 200 parts by weight of at least one filling mass; (C) a catalytic amount of a metallic carbonyl compound chosen from the group consisting of Fe (CO) 5, Fe2 (CO) 9, Fe3 (CO) 12, dicyclopentadienyl double iron tetracarbonyl, iron butadiene tricarbonyl, iron cyclohexadiene tricarbonyl, Ni (CO) 4, double nickel dicyclopentadienyl bicarbonyl, Mn2 (CO) 10, manganese cyclopentadienyl methyl tricarbonyl and cobalt cyclopentadienyl bicarbonyl, preferably 0.1 to 6 parts by weight d 'an iron carbonyl compound per 100 parts by weight of (A). Such compositions polymerize upon exposure to oxygen. When used in layers up to 3mm thick, these compositions polymerize at ambient temperatures in a reasonable amount of time to form higher molecular weight products which are useful as coatings, impregnation products or elastomeric waterproofing products. |
