titleOfInvention Process for the continuous preparation of acetic-acid esters
Process for the preparation of acetic acid esters CH 3 -CO-OR 1 (I, R '= organic radical apart from the methyl and the ethyl group) by alkali-catalyzed transesterification of an acetic acid ester CH 3 -CO-OR 2 (II, R 2 = methyl or ethyl group), with an alcohol R'-OH (III) with elimination of the alcohol R 2 -OH (IV) by a) the transesterification reaction in the middle part K M of a distillation column K is carried out, the alcohol III being passed liquid into the upper region and the ester II into the lower region of K M , b) introduces the alkaline catalyst into the upper part K o of K, c) withdrawing the alcohol IV or a mixture of IV and the ester II from the top of the column, d) the mixture obtained according to (c) (that is, unless the alcohol IV is obtained alone) in the column section K o or in a secondary column K N into IV and the azeotrope from II and IV and the latter again into the lower region of K M returns, e) the ester 1 is taken from the lower region of the lower part K u of K in vapor or liquid form and f) the catalyst either removed in the usual way or returned to Ko.
