titleOfInvention | Process for the degradation of the C20-carboxylic group of delta-4-BNC compounds optionally containing other double bonds, as well as C-21 steroids |
abstract | In Δ 4- and optionally at least one further double bond in the 1 (2) and / or 9 (11) position, steroid 20 carboxylic acids (BNC compounds) which also have an oxygen function, in particular an 11 position May have hydroxyl group or a keto group, the degradation of the 20-carboxyl group is accomplished by means of the carboxy inversion degradation. For this purpose, the BNC carboxylic acids are first converted into their acid halides, these are reacted with peracids to form mixed acid anhydrides and then saponified. The reaction product is a mixture of 20-hydroxy and 20 (21) -en steroid compounds which are one carbon atom poorer than the starting material used. Known and new C-21 steroid compounds can be produced by the process. The new C-21 steroid compounds are claimed as such. |
