abstract The production of steroid-20-carbamate compounds from the group 3-0xo-pregn-4-en-20-carbamate, 3-oxo-pregna-1,4-diene-2o-carbamate, 3-oxo-pregna-4 is described , 17 (20) - diene-2o-carbamate and 3-oxo-pregna-1,4,17 (20) - triene-20-carbamate. They are produced by N-bromination of the corresponding steroid-20-carboxamides with N-bromophthalmide by means of transhalogenation, elimination of hydrogen bromide and addition of a monohydric alcohol. The multistage process is preferably carried out in one reaction step without isolation of the reaction intermediates.
