titleOfInvention Process for the preparation of 1-nitro-benzene-2 carboxylic acid alkyl ester-5-carboxylic acids
abstract Process for the preparation of a 1-nitrobenzene-2-carboxylic acid alkyl ester 5-carboxylic acid with an alkyl radical in the ester group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms by acidic ester hydrolysis of a 1-nitrobenzene-2,5-dicarboxylic acid dialkyl ester with alkyl radicals in the ester groups of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, in which the hydrolysis is carried out by means of aqueous nitric acid with a content of particularly preferably 10 to 40%. This process avoids the formation of explosive dimethyl ether according to the known processes, which is formed during the hydrolysis of the ester group from the methanol that forms.
