abstract The invention provides an iridium compound that is nprepared by refluxing a diammonium hexahalo iridium salt nwith sulphamic acid for a length of time sufficient to per­nmit, after distillation and cooling of the refluxing product, nthe formation of a precipitate. This generally takes at least n30 hours e.g. 70 hours. In the case of the diammonium nhexachloride salt, the precipitate is olive green in colour.
