abstract This invention relates to a method of separation of the leucocyte populations of human blood, and more particularly to a rapid one-step density separation method of mononuclear leucocytes, polymorphonuclear leucocytes and erythrocytes (red blood cells) using a separating medium consisting of a single aqueous solution of (i) an erythrocyte aggregating or clumping agent and (ii) a compound which is highly soluble in water and gives a solution of relatively high density and relatively low viscosity and osmolarity.
