In order to achieve lighter pattern effects on a color-deep fund, aqueous printing pastes are applied to textile webs that have already been dyed with suitable dyestuffs or have only been impregnated with them. In addition to thickeners and other customary printing aids, they also contain auxiliaries which have properties which dissolve the dyes at elevated temperatures and which do not attack the fibers under thermosol conditions, whereupon the goods thus treated are subjected to a steaming process or a dry heat treatment. According to the process, dyeings, in particular of synthetic fibers with disperse dyes, as well as dyeings of natural fibers or their mixtures with disperse dyes, vat dyes, their leucoesters and development dyes, can be lightened evenly, “white” or “brightly etched”. Dye-dissolving auxiliaries of the type used are anionic, cationic or nonionic compounds of different constitution. |
