titleOfInvention | COAL LIQUEFACTION PROCESS USING INTERNAL HEAT TRANSFER. |
abstract | A coal liquefaction process in which a slurry of feed coal and solvent is preheated in a mixture preheating zone (4) and then transferred to a dissolving solution (58). Hot hydrogen (70) is introduced into the process downstream of the preheating zone at or in front of the dissolution zone and the catalytic cracking reactions with hydrogen take place in the dissolution zone ( 58). An output stream from the dissolution zone (76) is passed through a liquid-vapor separator (78) and the hot dissolution vapor, separated (80) at process pressure, is circulated through the preheating zone (46) in which it is cooled to provide direct transfer to the preheating zone of exothermic heat generated in the dissolution zone. The preheating zone is continuously ventilated (86) in order to obtain rapid elimination of cooled steam from the preheating zone and from the process, advantageously leaving an accumulation of liquid in the preheating zone, liquid boiling between the temperatures of the vapor-liquid separator. and that of the preheating zone, at process pressure. The discharge of hot steam, generated in the zone of exothermic dissolution, through the zone of preheating, to achieve a direct heat exchange in the process requires the continuous discharge of cooled steam of the zone of preheating independently of the elimination of the mud from the preheating zone. Such independent ventilation of the preheating zone is made possible by the introduction of hydrogen downstream of the preheating zone. |
