abstract |
An electrical energy storage element (10) of the reduction-oxidation type (REDOX) is divided into anode and cathode compartments (12 and 13) by a membrane (14), each compartment having a circulating fluid containing an ionic couple. to produce an electrical potential with solid inert electrodes (7 and 15) disposed respectively inside the compartments. The anode electrode (15) is plated with a layer (16) of copper, agent or gold and another layer (17) of lead or cadmium. The metallic layers (16 and 17) constitute an electrochemically active surface for reduction and oxidation which considerably increases the current density at the electrodes. |
