abstract An X-ray tomographic machine has a camera (18) and a film-plane part (20, 24) which moves around a primary axis (75) to image a determined section of an anatomical limb on the film. . A "recognition image" of the limb is taken at right angles to the plane of the desired section to indicate the angle of the section relative to the primary axis (75). The flat film is then located at the same angle with respect to the axis of the film cassette (20a, 26a) as the angle that the selected section makes with the primary axis (75). The film plane and the section are then maintained in parallel planes during movement of the camera and the film plane during tomographic radiography.
