titleOfInvention Process for the production of homo- and copolymers of alpha-monoolefins by means of a Ziegler catalyst system
abstract The invention lies within the scope of a process for the production of homopolymers and copolymers of α-monoolefins by polymerizing the monomer or monomers by means of a Ziegler catalyst system comprising (1) a titanium-containing catalyst component and (2) an aluminum-containing catalyst component, wherein ( 1.1) for producing the catalyst component (1) (1.1.1) a titanium compound (I) which is solid under normal conditions from a certain series of chlorides of titanium and (1.1.2) a halogen compound (11) which has been obtained by calcining and then Chlorination from a substance (III) of the general formula (Me <II>) 6. (Me <III>) 2. (OH) 16. (CO3) 1. (H2O) 4, in which Me <II> stands for magnesium, calcium, zinc or manganese and Me <III> for aluminum or chromium, ground together under certain conditions to form a solid-phase ground product (IV). It is characteristic of the process according to the invention that, when the catalyst component (1) (12) is prepared, in an additional step (1.2.1) the ground product (IV), (1.2.2) obtained in (1.1), an alkanol (V) and (1.2.3) brings together a liquid alkane (VI) to form a suspension (VII) and the whole is left for a while with continuous mixing and then (1.3) in a further step (1.3.1) the suspension obtained according to (1.2) ( VII) with (1.3.2) an acyl halide (VIII) of a certain type while maintaining the state of a suspension. The solid phase product resulting from stage (1.3) in suspension is the new titanium-containing catalyst component (1); it allows homo- and copolymers of α-monoolefins to be produced in a particularly advantageous manner.
