abstract A loading door assembly (12) for a heavy cyclic centrifugal machine (10) used to separate liquids from solids includes a hollow body forming a discharge outlet (62) with a face (58) surrounding the end of the outlet and a door (68) slidable on the face between a completely closed position covering the outlet and a position opening the latter to allow the flow of materials. A door operating mechanism comprises a driving motor device (130) mounted between a relatively fixed support (128) and a cross member (74), this motor being connected to the door to ensure its movement between the closed and open positions. . In addition, the loading door includes a mount (126) for the carrier (128) normally positioning the carrier fixedly with respect to the outlet but operable to move the carrier in the direction of closing movement of the door. A secondary drive device (108) operates the assembly to move the door to the closed position by moving the support (128) in the event of a power failure to the drive motor device when the door is open.
